TMVOA Chairman's Communication
TMVOA Chairman's CommunicationDear TMVOA Members: We have made it through another Mountain Village Town Council election albeit, this was an interesting one. There were 13 candidates to fill 4 seats. Many times, we are struggling to find enough candidates just to run and who are willing to dedicate the required time and effort. I want to thank all the Town Council members for their hard work in what can sometimes be a thankless job. Also, congratulations to the newly elected Council Members who were officially sworn in this month. With the 13 candidates running in this election, it tells me that the voters may be looking for some change. In addition to property owners and residents, there are three major stakeholders in Mountain Village: the Town of Mountain Village, the Telluride Mountain Village Owner’s Association, and the Telluride Ski and Golf Company. There is a lot of history between these three organizations and each of these organizations should all take responsibility for some of the dysfunction and bad blood that has existed between these three stakeholders. However, it is time to put this behind us and for these three entities to start to work together in order to move our community forward as a whole. We don’t need to waste one minute on what has happened in the past. We will get nowhere fast as a community if we continue to operate independently and without cooperation between us. This includes the people at the top of the organizations (Town Council, TMOVA Board of Directors and TSG ownership and senior management) all the way to the last employee. All three organizations need to succeed in order for us, the Mountain Village property owners, to experience a vibrant and sustainable resort community for many decades to come. We have a lot to accomplish over the next few years in Mountain Village in order to start turning the corner. It needs to be done with open communication and with aligned goals and outcomes. I would like to congratulate Dan Jansen, Laila Benitez, Dan Caton and Bruce MacIntire on being elected to the Mountain Village Town Council. I look forward to working with the new council members and the standing council members. There are a lot of exciting things happening in Mountain Village and there are a lot of challenges we are faced with that need to be addressed. The Town of Mountain Village, TMVOA and TSG need to provide the leadership necessary to meet our goals. Please feel free to call me anytime to discuss any concerns you may have or maybe to share some positive stories about the good things going on in our spectacular town. Sincerely, Jon Dwight, Board Chairman Telluride Mountain Village Owners Association |
